couch standing or outside?

This article has got my attention very fast it has to do with a study of a little bit heavier kids playing the Wii activity games to see if they are meeting the daily exercise requirements according to a U.S. study the article states. This article states the researcher’s from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas discovered that kids who were playing “active video games to play on the Nintendo Wii did not get any more vigorous physical activity then kids just playing on the couch. So this got my attention fast as I was trying to think how a game where you need to stand up and move your arms and body in some cases does not help you get any more physical activity then sitting on the couch. To do this study they gave 78 kids a Wii console and gave half a choice of active games and the other half none active games halfway through gave then new choices of the same type of game to the same kids. The person behind all this is Mr. Baranowski who tracked the kids for 13 weeks testing their physical levels using a machines called a accelerometer, this machine determines when they were in a lightly exercising or engaged in moderate to vigorous exercise as stated in the article. This machine showed that the kids who played the active games did not get any more exercises then the ones however this was said maybe due to the kids being tired so they did not do their usually activities as much but however since the kids are playing an active game and using their arms they must be losing more calories than the kids sitting on the couch.
Now after going through all this the article questions was does the Wii help some kids get the daily amount of exercise? Now the only thing that came to mine mind was why are these kids not going outside and playing sport? At the age between 9 and 12 each and every day after school I would go home and shoot some hoops play some hockey or ride my bike for a few hours even as I got older I still did this now not so much but I would not mind going outside shooting on my net it’s a blast it does not matter the season or the weather conditions however my dad did care about the condition the garage was at since I occasionally missed the net, but still why are these kids playing games when they should be outside riding bikes playing sports when they can if I could I would why not it’s a fun time now even if some kids don’t like sports just being outside walking around is better than sitting in front of a T.V all day playing a game or even playing a so called active game kids need to get outside and get some fresh air and get some exercise and some skill they can show off in their next time in gym class or playing with their friends.

Ban WiFi ?

This short article got my attention very easily when I read about how a group of over 45,000 Catholic school teachers are trying to ban WiFi from schools, due to there being a possible link between cancer and wireless devices like cellphones and laptops. What also attracted my eye was that it’s up to the school boards in the province to make the decisions about whether to use WiFi or not, as well the fact that at least one school board in British Columbia have removed or strictly limited WiFi due to this safety concern.
My look at this no more WiFi in classrooms has brought many thought to my mind on how to react to it, clearly it has some support and teachers are looking to have an end to WiFi in over1,400 Catholic schools but how are they going to deliver the work to the students or let them hand in work online?
If they use paper then they are not being very green and saving trees, so what that means that they are going to hook up every computer with a hardwired connection meaning they will need to put a computer in every single class for each student? Where is that money going come from?  They can also have the Ethernet cable for laptops but that means every single student would need their own laptop and they also will need to take the time to install the right programs, this also means that the schools will need to be renovated for the Ethernet cables for laptops and or computers this is would cost a lot of money, and what does that mean maybe more taxes or budget cuts on other programs so that a possible link from WiFi technology and cancer can be avoided. Are the teachers going take pay cuts to pay for the renovations in an entire province? I don’t think so. WiFi is cheaper than installing all those renovations to hook up hardwired cables to possibly new computers and or laptops. These days many teachers use the internet to post notes, questions, solutions, homework, assignments and much more. This all saves trees and time for teachers. So why spend money have budget cuts and more just from a possible link to cancer. I say yes research it and make sure  there is a 100% link to cancer and wireless technology then if there is a big risk limit the use of WiFi in classrooms  even now limit it but don’t get rid of it since its now an important  way to do your school work and has become essential part of school and life its self that brings me to another topic of how life is run by technology but that’s not what I am talking about.
So I say unless the teachers are willing to take a big pay cut of their pay cheques for renavations for all wired internet then I am all for it since there is a little risk and health concerns but besides that I say only at maximum reduce the amount of WiFi but do not get rid of it completely, since I am sure everyone loves their WiFi am I right or am I right?

Texting and Emailing connects at Sheridan

At Sheridan emailing is used to connect to some other students in your class and contact your teachers by email I believe this to be a good thing how we at Sheridan use slate to see what work we have do projects and homework and we can ask our teacher for help with out having to find them outside you class it does make things much better or does it? Sometimes teachers may not understand what you ask them in an email or the email does not get read till it is too late or maybe the email never got received if you go and see the teacher then they will understand you and be able to help you and there will be no conflict over the email.
During class when the teacher is talking and students should be making notes and paying attention it is often when the cell phones come out and the texting begins to others I have done it everyone has done it but this is not a good thing people miss impotent information that might be on a test or might miss the work they are about to do and might take them much longer then it normally would this is how texting is being used too much, everyone should know when the right time to text is you can text just at the right time and people need to understand to wait till after class to start texting away. People at Sheridan use texting to find one and other so they can hang out and study that is used it the right senses but sadly that’s not all some students talk threw text and email all day long that’s how the talk in stead of going to see each other they just text and email they may see each other once in a while but mostly just text all day long which need to become a less and less thing at the school. Texting and emailing are a important thing at school still they need to be there for people who need to do work together and find out information with out texting and emailing it would be allot harder to fine the people you need to do your work.

Q&A Texting and Emailing (continue)

Which would you chose to do go over to your friends house and ask him or her if they want to hang out on a nice sunny day or would you simply just text them well most people will say text between the two. So what happens when they say no what would have happen I you went to there house don’t you think they would have said yes or at least more likely to say yes. I would think so because you can use your emotions to get your friends out off the couch and out to play some sports. I mean how do you even know who is texting you or emailing you, you would think it would be the person your texting but you never really know if you did invite some one to go play football how do you know there just not with someone who picked up there phone and does not like you so they say no. That’s one thing about texting you really don’t know who the sender is yes it should be the person you text but you never really know since you cant see them so you never even know if its there words talking to you that’s why talking in person is so much more convincing then threw an email or text. People don’t just use a simple text message on a device as a quick message to a friend no, people use it as a conversation which people will find easy ways to say longer words this is how slang is created and used like "lol", "OMG", "prbly", "cuz" and many more people have long conversations instead of just little quick message which makes these words come in to play and not only that but this sometimes happens when people are sending a real important message to a boss or when trying to get a job or handing in an essay others hate when they see this which they blame on people texting to much which in some cases is true. We all need to stop texting as much as we do for our conversations because next time you send a message to your boss that could make or brake that job you want or promotion your trying to get you might just put a short form of a word which is not professional and you wont even notice think about that when your righting those emails.

Q&A Texting and Emailing

There are so many ways to communicate even every game you can play using the Internet has some form of email communication, which can be very useful for all types of trades. Texting and emailing are they the things that are taking over communications with other people instead of being person to person. I believe this to be true and untrue its untrue since their are people who are too far to go see or some other case where it is hard to meet with them in that case texting and emailing is perfect to contact them the problem is that the people who live maybe 5-10 mins from one and other are texting instead of just hanging out and people are texting saying I am outside when they are getting a ride somewhere. Another thing is that people use to send letters to people and those letter were usually kept and save and re-read since it was form someone important now since its just a email its not as important and is read once. Since emailing has come and texting the words people use are also less meaningful, when people were to right letters the words would be very meaningful they would work hard to make sure the letter would perfected to the writers liking but when its just and simple message on the computer or handheld device its less meaningful just doing the bare minimum to get the reply out. Texting and emailing are taking over the way of communication everyone needs to use it when it is necessary weather then all the time as their communication.

Email, Texting and Me

With texting and emailing there is a limit to how much you use it and why you use it people have their own reasons some are normal but some are strange, some people text and email all the time others when it is necessary. But can texting or emailing take over you communication with others yes I think it can since at one point this happen to me. A year ago I started to text a lot more since I just got my cell phone, and at some point I starting talking to this girl and I started to text her and talk to her pretty much everyday by instant messaging just about everyday in the morning I would text her before class then after school I would text her and then at night for a few hrs we would talk on the computer by instant messaging each other. This was going on so much that I started to talk to her more by text then talking over the phone or talking to her in person it was almost like we only new each other by text rather then the person I mean you never even know if that person your texting is the person sometime other could text in there place and you would not even know. As you can see texting starting taking over my communication with this girl so on a friday night both of us were doing nothing but texting each other when we could have just been hanging out so texting was talking over our communication with each other but not only that I was texting her in class in stead of making notes and paying attention to what the teacher was saying I was texting this girl which made me miss the lesson and figure out my homework by myself using only the text book which made things way more difficult. So many people are doing the same thing texting all the time not paying attention in class and texting weather then hanging out with others using it as our communication instead of going to meet the person and talk face to face. So this was my experience with too much texting talking over my communication so now I want you to tell my yours??
But not all texting is bad sometimes you need to ask someone something or tell someone very important information or someone who is very far away and you cant see them so in some cases emailing and texting is an amazing way to communicate but you need to know how much to do it and who do it with.

Email and Texting

Email and Texting something people from pretty much high school to older people do at least one of the two if not both of them. They are almost a must to communicate with everyone you want to communicate with these days. Everyone who has a cell phone at some point during a day will most likely text at least one or two people as for emailing many people will go on to a computer or a device where you can access the internet and send out a email to you friends family asking how they are what there up to or asking for some information.  Almost everything now has a sort of mail system, everything on the internet anything to do with a online community will have a email type system so communicate and play the game whether its to chat with other players battle trade its all the same emailing, then if you in the business world you might be texting someone or emailing some one for a trade or a deal of some kind trying to talk to other to make sure you 100,000 deal is still good going down and asking where they can talk about more details and have a coffee. All those things are what texting and emailing is for but is it talking over normal person-to-person communication?  Are people texting and emailing instead of calling or getting face to face and talking?
Is there a wrong time to be texting others? These are some questions that should be answered and will be in my future posts.
